Gret is a non profit association involved in designing and managing local development programes. Gret is active in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. Amongst its activities Gret implements micro-finance systems in rural and urban areas. It also seeks to promote the exchange and dissemination of information on micro-finance knowledge and micro-finance practices by publishing articles and studies.

Gret manages micro-finance projects in eight areas, across five countries, in Asia (Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam) and in Africa (the Comoro Islands and the Congo DR). Depending on the context, Gret provides either training, organisational and management assistance, or monitoring and evaluation. It employs thirteen micro-finance specialists.

Cirad is a French Scientific Research Institut whose mandate is to assist the economic and social development of low and medium income countries. The Cirad promotes an original research-action methodology based on a deep understanding of the context of study, the identification of relevant development issues, the diagnosis of socio-economic constraints, the experimentation and assessment of solutions. Among its activities, Cirad supports the implementation of two micro-finance institutions with significant outreach in West Africa and Eastern Europe, and participates in training programs and in the evaluation of other micro-finance projects in Asia and Africa.
